Publication Ethic

The Andalas International Journal of Socio-Humanities (AIJOSH) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all aspects of its publication process. The journal adheres to the ethical principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and other recognized best practices in scholarly publishing. These principles guide the behavior of all participants in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher.

  1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are expected to uphold the following ethical standards:

1.1. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Manuscripts must be the original work of the author(s) and must not contain any form of plagiarism.
  • Proper citation and acknowledgment of sources are mandatory, including content derived from the authors’ previously published works.

1.2. Data Accuracy and Integrity

  • Authors must present accurate, complete, and reproducible data.
  • Manipulation or fabrication of data constitutes unethical behavior and is strictly prohibited.

1.3. Authorship and Contributorship

  • Only individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research should be listed as authors.
  • All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
  • Non-author contributors should be acknowledged appropriately.

1.4. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the research.

1.5. Multiple and Redundant Submissions

  • Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is prohibited.
  • Authors must disclose any prior publication or simultaneous submission of related content.

1.6. Ethical Research Practices

  • Research involving human or animal subjects must adhere to relevant ethical guidelines, such as the Declaration of Helsinki or local regulations.
  • Authors must obtain necessary approvals from institutional review boards and provide evidence of informed consent from participants, where applicable.

Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and quality of AIJOSH publications. Reviewers must adhere to the following principles:

  • Manuscripts under review are confidential documents and should not be shared or discussed with others without explicit permission from the editor.

2.2. Objectivity

  • Reviews should be conducted impartially, without bias or influence from personal or professional relationships.
  • Reviewers should provide constructive, evidence-based feedback that enhances the quality of the manuscript.

2.3. Conflicts of Interest

  • Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if they feel unable to provide an unbiased review.

2.4. Promptness

  • Reviewers should complete their evaluations within the agreed-upon timeframe and notify the editor if delays are anticipated.

Editors are responsible for ensuring the integrity, transparency, and quality of the publication process. Their responsibilities include:

  • Editorial decisions are based solely on the scholarly merit, originality, and relevance of the manuscript, free from commercial or political influence.

3.2. Confidentiality

  • Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, including the identities of authors and reviewers.

3.3. Addressing Misconduct

  • The editorial team is responsible for investigating and addressing allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, data falsification, and ethical breaches.
  • In cases of confirmed misconduct, corrective actions such as retractions, errata, or editorial statements will be implemented.

3.4. Conflicts of Interest

  • Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

As the publisher, the Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) Universitas Andalas ensures the sustainability, transparency, and integrity of the journal’s operations. The publisher supports the editorial team in addressing ethical issues and upholding COPE and BOAI principles.
